A Dobradiça – Encontros Contemporâneos is a civil society initiative that aims to be the bridge between a low-density village in central Portugal, that sits on the periphery of the established centres of cultural production and contemporary discourse, through a rigorous and ambitious cultural programming. This project proposes an alternative model of where and how knowledge is produced and experienced. A Dobradiça (the Hinge) proposes culture as a gateway that opens and connects diverse ways of seeing and being in the world. A Dobradiça - Encontros Contemporâneos is a contemporary culture platform that has a biannual iteration. Nestled in the geographic centre of the country,
A Dobradiça is more than a meeting point.
Here, artists come to dwell,
to create, to breathe,
to lose and find themselves in the slow rhythm of making.
It hosts a range of residencies -
spaces of reflection, of risk,
where the edge of thought becomes the seed of form.
It publishes books; pages that hold the weight of wild imagination.
And so much more unfolds here:
conversations that matter,
encounters that shift,
a quiet hum of possibility
at the centre of it all.
